  • With the logo"Go-green Jnanasudha"JnanaNisargaEco club was inaugurated on 24-07-2013It is a collaboration of students from high school andcollege. There are approximately 125 members.

    The Eco-club was inaugurated by Mrs.Usha Rani, associate professor of Botany at MGM CollegeUdupi, Symbolically by planting a coconut sapling. In her presidential address she insisted students to look around the nature and identify the medicinal values of each and every plant. She also coated the examples of "SalumaradaThimmakka" who has planted thousands of avenue trees which produces thousand kilograms of oxygen free of cost which we will not able to produce in industries.

    Mr.R.V.Subramanya a range forest officer while presiding the function, he stressed the importance of forest and plants to the human beings.

    The chief guest of the function Mrs. JyothiPadmanabh, requested the students to glance through their life style. She also said that one should not waste food, food is our basic need. So much of energy is utilized to grow food. From farmer to dining table, lots of efforts are taken up in each and every step. So we should not waste food, we must take required quantity of food.

    Mrs. Suraj Joshi of IPUC (PCMB) welcomed the guest, AnkithaKamath of 9thStd thanked the guest, Gagan and Shwetha of I PUC (PCMB) were the master of ceremony.

    After the programme there was an environment awareness skit enacted by I PUC students. Varieties of medicinal plants were brought by Denold and Thilak were displayed.

    After the inaugural function we planted all the medicinal plants near the temple in our campus.

    We have made five groups; each group is headed by student leader. They are actively participated in planting activities. On 13th of August around twenty five saplings of various plants were planted in and around campus.

    On 27thAugust 2013 eco-club organized a slide show seminar on conservation of nature. In his speech, Dr.Krishna Mohan showed various organisms especially caterpillars and wasps, how they are adapted as well as inter dependent on each other.

    On 05-11-13 with the help of thirty members we planted about forty garden plants inner region of the college campus to make the campus green. Next year we are planning to make our campus green by planting avenue trees, medicinal plants, so that the campus will be covered with a blanket of greenary.
